Terms and conditions
The plain-English terms that apply when you request a quote or book work with us.
Who we are
The Birmingham Plumber (plumbersinbirmingham.uk) provides plumbing, heating and drainage work to homes, landlords and businesses in Birmingham and the surrounding area. You can reach us at info@plumbersinbirmingham.uk.
Quotes
Quotes are given in writing. A quote is based on the information you give us and, where we have visited, on what could be seen at the time. If we find something during the work that could not reasonably have been seen, such as a hidden corroded pipe or a fault behind a finished surface, we will stop, explain it and agree any change to the price with you before carrying on.
Booking and access
When you accept a quote we agree a date with you. Please make sure we can get to the work area and to the stopcock, gas meter and boiler where relevant. If a visit cannot go ahead because we cannot get in, we will let you know how a rearranged visit is priced before rebooking.
Cancelling
If you are a consumer and agree to work away from our premises, you normally have fourteen days to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. If you ask us to start within that period and then cancel, you may be asked to pay for work already done and parts already bought for your job.
Payment
Payment terms are set out on your quote. For larger jobs we may ask for a deposit towards materials, which will be stated in writing before you commit.
Parts and materials
Parts we supply remain ours until paid for. Manufacturers' own warranties on parts and appliances pass to you, and any registration required by a manufacturer will be explained at handover.
Safety
If we find a gas appliance or installation that is unsafe, we are required to follow the Gas Industry Unsafe Situations Procedure. That can mean turning off or disconnecting an appliance, with your permission, and labelling it. This is done for your safety and is not optional.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with any part of the work, please tell us as soon as possible by email so we can look at it and put it right. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by these terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
